James H. “Jim” Walters, age 87 of Heath, Texas, passed away Nov. 8, 2022 with his family by his side. He was born Aug. 1, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan, to James Maxwell Walters and Leona Stella (Price) Walters. Jim grew up in Michigan and proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, after which he began his career at Ford Motor Company in the Tool & Die Division. Douglas Paul Gehl, 64, of Alpena, passed away Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at his home. The youngest of five children, Doug was born in Flint to John (Bud) and Catherine Gehl. When he was a young child, the family moved to Ossineke where he was often found on his trike with a wagon and an extraordinarily long piece of rope attached. Doug transitioned to two-wheel bikes and wore out many as he traveled every inch of Ossineke. When he moved to Alpena, he soon knew every inch of that city, too. John Joseph Ludwiczak, 78, of Alpena passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2022, at Turning Brook. John was born June 5, 1944, in Alpena to the late Edmund and Bessie (Reiser) Ludwiczak. He graduated from Catholic Central in 1962. John served in the United States Army from 1965-1968 and for most of that time as a military police officer in Munich, Germany. He worked as a police officer for the City of Alpena for 34 years, finally retiring in 2002. During his career, John was also a D.A.R.E officer for Alpena public & parochial schools. Gary Lynn Pelleran, 76, of Alpena, passed away Nov. 12, 2022. Gary was born Aug. 20, 1946, to the late Arthur and Wilma (Thompson) Pelleran. He was drafted into the Army shortly following high school where he proudly served during Vietnam. Gary was a hard-working family man and EXCELLENT father. Joan Katherine Brousseau, 89, of Alpena, passed away Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at MyMichigan Medical Center Alpena. Joan was born on Oct. 4, 1933, in Maple Ridge Township to the late Edward and Gertrude (Melville) Brousseau. She graduated from St. Bernard High School in 1951 and graduated from Mount Carmel of Mercy Nursing School. Joan worked as a registered nurse for many years retiring from Alpena General Hospital in 1989 as the operating room supervisor. David Ray Brege, age 67, of Belknap Township, passed away Nov. 12, 2022 at MyMichigan Health Center in Midland. He was born May 2, 1955 in Rogers City to Norman and Dorothy (Gemmil) Brege. David was a farmer and woodsman, he loved being outdoors. He was an avid hunter and built a 10-acre pond for waterfowl.
