JAMES H. WALTERS
James H. “Jim” Walters, age 87 of Heath, Texas, passed away Nov. 8, 2022 with his family by his side.
He was born Aug. 1, 1935 in Detroit, Michigan, to James Maxwell Walters and Leona Stella (Price) Walters. Jim grew up in Michigan and proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force, after which he began his career at Ford Motor Company in the Tool & Die Division. His dream was to own his own business so he moved to Alpena, Michigan and purchased Mobility Sports Center in 1972, a successful motorcycle and snowmobile franchise.
In 1981, he moved to Rockwall, Texas where he managed a Tool & Die plant until his retirement. Jim was a man with a tough exterior but on the inside was the most loving, fun, fearless and compassionate person you could ever meet and had the handshake of strength and power. A risk-taker by nature, he loved the adrenaline rush of going fast and did a good job passing that trait down to his children. His most favorite times were racing snowmobiles, driving sports cars and cruising on his motorcycle, but above all else, he loved doing life with his family: his wife, his kids and grandchildren. His love was pure and his words were always meaningful which left a huge impact on every heart he touched.
Jim is survived by his “honey bunny” and loving wife of 65 years: Beverly Walters; children: Patty Walters, James B. Walters (wife Twyla), Kimberlee Walters-Sanders (husband Doug); Lisa Sagnibene (husband Joe); 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; his brother: Tom Walters (wife Marlene); nieces Jody and Michelle; special family friend: Steve Mischloney; and his devoted and beloved dog “Megan”.
He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022, at Reflections at Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall, Texas. A visitation service will be held prior at 1 p.m. for those interested. Memorial contributions may be made, in lieu of flowers, to Jim’s favorite charity, The Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org.
