After a courageous 22 year battle with cancer Anna surrendered on Feb. 20, and was transported to God’s everlasting kingdom of love, joy, and peace. She was born in Detroit on July 17, 1935, to Willis and Veva (Linton) Long, the last of seven children. During her childhood and teen-age years, she was active in a variety of ways in the programs of the Fort Street Presbyterian Church. A gifted athlete, she captained the girls’ basketball and field hockey teams at Western High School in Detroit. He is survived by his wife, Rene, three sons, Todd, Scott, Eric, five grandchildren, Justin, Dylan, Tory, Taylor, Erin, three great-grandchildren, six siblings, Arlene (Paul) Detloff, Rose Mary (Ernest) Beauregard, Gerald (Barbara), Eugene (Dawn), Leonard, James (Cathy), and three brother-in-laws, Philip (Janet) Straley, Melvin (Lois) Straley, and Robert Straley. JAMES ‘JIMMY’ LEWIS ABEND

James “Jimmy” Lewis Abend, 48, of Spruce passed away Sunday, Feb. 19, 2023, at home. James was born Feb. 27, 1974, in Alpena to Arnold and Judith (Higgs) Abend. On Feb. 27, 2008, he married Lisa Fleck. Jimmy owned and operated Quality Lawn Care and mowed lawns and snow plowed most of his life. He did commercial mowing since 2002. Jimmy loved Hubbard Lake, being outdoors, pontooning, and especially spending time with family. Helping people brought him joy. Jeannine Reinke

REINKE, Jeannine, 93, of Alpena, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2023, at MediLodge of Greenview. She is survived by her sister, Joyce Nowland, her stepdaughter Linda, her niece, Carol Nowland, and her great-niece, Stephanie Nowland, as well as several other nieces and nephews. Per her wishes, Jeannine has been taken for cremation with no services planned at this time. Inurnment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery. McWilliams Funeral Home has assisted the family.

Sept. 18, 1978 - Feb. 15, 2023 Louisville — Anjel June Anderson passed unexpectedly at home in Tennessee that she shared with her fiance Scott Bryars and his two sons.
