CEDARVILLE — Hillman’s Gunnar Libby did more than score his 1,000th career point on Tuesday night. Libby poured in 30 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out six assists in the Tigers 68-51 win over Cedarville.

“It’s nice for him to get that burden off of his back and for him to do it in the opening game of his senior season and contribute in so many ways just shows the kind of player he is,” Hillman coach Eric Muszynski said.

The Tigers opened with a five point lead after one quarter, but were able to find ways to fill the basket and cruise to nice victory on the road in their season opener.

“It started off like a traditional Hillman, Cedarville game with both teams going back and forth,” Muszynski said. “We were able to regroup after an early timeout and in the fourth quarter we blew it wide open.”

Libby scored his 28th point of the game and 1,000th of his career in the fourth quarter after connecting on a free throw after he was fouled and made the shot. The three point play sparked an 8-0 run for the Tigers in the fourth quarter.

Other double digit scorers for Hillman were Brandon Banks who added 15 points and Kory Henigan who added 11 points in the win.

The Tigers will be back in action on Friday when they host Atlanta.
