ATLANTA – On Wednesday, the Montmorency County Board of Commissioners approved the budget for 2018.

The board approved $7,605,944 in revenues and $6,976,232 in expenses.

“Under law, we had to approve the revenues and expenses,” Chairman Daryl Peterson said. “Those are totals for everything in the budget.”

The budget was available online for over two weeks for members of the public to view.

“We completed all the regulations and laws that were required,” Peterson said. “I’m glad we were able to get this done.”

The board approved the new budget unanimously.

The board also approved its Michigan Municipal Risk Management Authority coverage for 2018 and approved its Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act compliance plan for 2018.

Peterson said Montmorency County also was one of only 10 counties in the state to have its budget approved for the Indigent Defense Council.

“Thank you for everyone who worked hard to get that done,” Peterson said.
