Monday, Jan. 28:
¯ ALL will have an opportunity to learn to play the ukulele each Monday from January 8 through March 25. Instructor Gloria Beth believes it is easy to play the ukulele. She has experience teaching in a senior center. Join her each Monday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at ACC's Madeline Briggs Center.
Tuesday, Jan. 29:
¯ ALL will learn about effective communication and hearing ability from Kristen Kowalski, Doctor of Audiology, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Alpena Community College's Madeline Briggs Center.
¯ ALL will hear from Keith Titus about the place we call "Home." Titus will present an occasional reading, a little music, but mostly reminiscing, at 7 p.m. at ACC, CTR 106, for Part I of "No Place Like Home." He has lived most of his life here in Alpena, but served the Oglala Lakota Indian Reservation for 20 years living on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. This presentation is open to the public.
Wednesday, Jan. 30:
¯ ALL will learn about the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) from Mary Ann Heidemann, community planner who has a special interest in historic sites. She will discuss Camp Black Lake, one of only two surviving CCC Camps in our state, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at ACC's Madeline Briggs Center.
Thursday, Jan. 31:
¯ ALL will learn about "Inspiration Alcona," dedicated to promoting art, writing, music retreats, concerts, and dances for the past seven years. Judy MacNeill has been on the board since its beginning. She will speak from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at ACC's Madeline Briggs Center.
¯ ALL will hear from Tim Kuehnlein, instructor of Political Science and History at ACC. He just returned from Brussels, Belgium and Luxembourg and will share insights, experiences and European thoughts about unification and Brexit, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at ACC, CTR 116. This presentation is open to the public.
Tuesday, Feb. 5:
¯ ALL will learn how to access their health information with the MidMichigan Patient Portal. This portal can be used to make appointments and review test results online. The MidMichigan tech team will help ALL members set up an account. This presentation will be held at the MidMichigan Auditorium, Side 1 at the hospital from 2:30 to 4 p.m.
Thursday, Feb. 7:
¯ ALL will go bowling from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thunder Bowl Lanes on U.S.-23 South, Alpena. The cost is $11 per person for two games, ball, shoes, pizza and a pitcher of beer or pop for each group of four persons.
¯ ALL members are invited to use journal writing in a fun, no-pressure workshop to capture memories and explore ideas and feelings. These sessions are led by Mary Ann Krajnik Crawford, retired professor and director of the Writing Center at Central Michigan University, and Carey Rapin, who used journaling for grief support groups she facilitated for Hospice. The journal writing meets once a month from noon to 1:30 p.m. at ACC's Madeline Briggs Center.
Tuesday, Feb. 12:
¯ ALL will hear from Bob Case, Pastor Emeritus from First Congregational United Church of Christ, as he compares a modern atheist with a modern theist and religious thinker, from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at M. Briggs Center.
Wednesday, Feb. 13:
¯ ALL continues the writing series workshop, Sharing Our Stories, led by Mary Ann Crawford, retired professor and director of the Writing Center at Central Michigan University. The sessions focus on writing, sharing, and helping members to revise and edit. The series meets the second Wednesday of each month at ACC's Madeline Briggs Center from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
Thursday, Feb. 14:
¯ ALL will hear from attorney Judy McFalda about property taxes and the Homestead Exemption. She specializes in family law, elder law and estate planning. This presentation will be from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at M. Briggs Center.
¯ALL will paint a small birdhouse with Ellen LaCross, a Northeast Michigan Artist Guild member. Cost is $5, payable upon registering, and all materials will be provided. Join ALL members from 1 to 3 p.m. at M. Briggs Center.
Tuesday, Feb. 19:
¯ ALL will learn about the current recommendations for immunizations for adults and senior citizens from Dr. Tina Rossi, from 1 to 2 p.m. at M. Briggs Center.
Wednesday, Feb. 20:
¯ ALL Camera Club meets each month to share the joy of photography. ALL members are welcome to join this group of photographers with varying degrees of expertise and experience who are willing to share. This group meets the third Wednesday of each month at ACC's Madeline Briggs Center from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Thursday, Feb. 21:
¯ ALL will hear from Gerald Lucas, a beekeeper, about taking care of bees year-round. He will talk about the work that is done in the spring as well as how to prepare the hives for the winter. Join other ALL members from 10 to 11 a.m. at M. Briggs Center.

¯ ALL will hear from Habitat for Humanity Restore manager Nichole Keyes about "Upcycling." Nichole will help participants construct a tiered stand then use items from the Restore floor to decorate the item. Cost for this activity is $10.00. Wednesday, Feb. 27:
¯ ALL will gather at the 19th Hole, 1081 U.S.-23 North, for this month's Moveable Feast. Join other ALL members at noon and order from the menu. Bring a guest and introduce them to ALL activities. Just let the coordinator know that you are bringing a guest.
Thursday, Feb. 28:
¯ ALL will have a chance to join a presentation for beginning card-making, instructed by Nancy Pohl, who has been making cards and scrapbooking for more than five years, and is eager to introduce others to this activity. The cost for supplies will be $5. The presentation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. at M. Briggs Center.
Thursday, Feb. 28:
¯ ALL meets each month to talk about Foreign Affairs. Join this group as they discuss the topic of Refugees and Global Migration. This is the first of eight topics prepared by the Foreign Policy Association for 2019. A study booklet for the series is on reserve at the ACC library. In addition, a short film is presented on the topic at the beginning of each session. This group meets from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at M. Briggs Center.
