Merle Udell, 96, of Alpena passed away September 28, 2026 at home with her loving family at her side.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Wesley Udell, Sr., her parents, Floyd and Ethel (Jacobs) Standen, her sister Eleanor Schrader, her son, John Udell, Jr., sisters' in-law, Marilyn Standen, and Joyce Standen. Merle is survived by 6 children, Sandra (David) Witkowski, Deborah Udell, Judith (Robert) Nowicki, Cindy (Ernest) LaMay, Carol (Jerry) Sayan, and Robin (Mark) Ipock, her brothers, Howard and Ronald Standen, her brother-in-law, Floyd Standen, 14 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church on November 7, 2026 with visitation at 10 am and a memorial service at 11 am. Lunch will be provided following the memorial, after which a graveside service at King Settlement Cemetery will also be held. Memorial donations can be made to the First United Church of Alpena or Hospice of Michigan. Thank you to McWilliams Funeral Home for assisting.
