Moore, Kieliszewski to tailgate before Alpena hosts Petoskey

ALPENA - Former Detroit Lions wide receiver Herman Moore and Alpena native Emily Kieliszewski will greet football fans at Wildcat Stadium tonight before the Wildcats host Petoskey on Cancer Awareness Night.

The tailgate party runs from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. in a Big North Conference game.

Moore, a four-time Pro Bowl receiver who wore No. 84 for the Lions, and Kieliszewski, Miss Michigan 2015, are appearing for the Sports Impact Series campaign "If Your Genes Could Talk." organizers say the event is meant to raise awareness of behavioral health and substance use disorders and to promote genetic testing that can show how a person may respond to certain medications.

Kieliszewski, a mental health advocate, has served as board president of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Alpena is 1-5 overall and 0-4 in the Big North after a 34-21 home loss to Marquette on Friday. The Wildcats stayed within a score into the fourth quarter. Quarterback Cash Moughon finished with 280 yards of total offense, including a 78-yard touchdown run. Alpena's only win this season is a 27-8 opener at Boyne City. Five straight losses have followed, including a 21-18 defeat to Flint Powers Catholic and conference losses to Cadillac, Escanaba and Gaylord.

Petoskey arrives at 4-2 overall and 3-1 in the league, third in the Big North behind unbeaten Marquette and Cadillac. The Northmen beat Gaylord 42-21 last week and have outscored opponents 200-79 this season. Their only league loss was 22-20 at Cadillac on Sept. 25.

Tonight is Alpena's second straight home game and the middle of a three-game home stretch that ends Oct. 23 against Ogemaw Heights. The Wildcats travel to Sault Ste. Marie on Oct. 16.
