ALPENA - Joe LaCross scored three goals and added three assists, and Reece Dragiewicz scored three times as Alpena rolled past Standish 8-1 on Saturday.
LaCross opened the scoring on a pass from Mason Burns. Alpena then added three more goals before halftime - two from LaCross and one from Dragiewicz - to take a 4-0 lead into the break.
"We started a little slow, but the boys picked up their game after Joe added the first goal," Alpena Coach Ken Dragiewicz said. "Joe played another solid game, not only scoring goals but distributing the ball as well."
Dragiewicz scored early in the second half on a pass from LaCross. Parker Kaiser and Dragiewicz then added goals to push the lead to 7-0. Standish answered with a goal to make it 7-1, but Preston Barthal finished a pass from LaCross for the final margin.
Barthal's goal was his first at the varsity level. Brady Kadrich, Mason Kaiser, Greyson Christensen-Cooper, Garrett Chabot, Marqus Parker, and Barthal all contributed off the bench.
"I thought our entire team played well," Dragiewicz said. "We have a few injuries, and guys really stepped up."
Jayden Crandall made two saves in goal for Alpena.
"Looking forward to the last week and a half before the playoffs," Dragiewicz added.
