Wildcats golf team earns top spot

CADILLAC - The Alpena Wildcats girls' golf team won the Cadillac Invitational on Wednesday, shooting 374 to take first in the varsity field.
The victory is the Wildcats' third of the season and leaves Alpena tied with Traverse City West in the Big North Conference (BNC) standings. The conference title will be decided at the BNC championship on Thursday, Oct. 1. Regionals follow Monday, Oct. 5.
Grace Bouchard led Alpena with an 86 and finished second individually. Carli Susewitz shot 93 and tied for fourth. Caroline Robertson carded a 96 and tied for sixth. Claire Kinzey shot 99, Sam Silver 102 and Hannah Brownridge 108.
On the junior varsity side, Vivian Robertson finished fifth with a 112.
Alpena has steadily lowered its scores heading into the stretch run.
