Rutenbar named Ladies Golf Association Golfer of the Year

ALPENA - LaRae Rutenbar has been named the 2026 Golfer of the Year by the Alpena Golf Club Ladies Golf Association.

Rutenbar received the honor at the club and was photographed with the association's perpetual Golfer of the Year plaque. The award recognizes a member of the women's league, which promotes golf among women in Alpena and the surrounding area under U.S. Golf Association rules.

The Ladies Golf Association plays weekly at Alpena Golf Club, with a required nine holes and an optional additional nine, plus seasonal tournaments and weekly prizes.

Rutenbar is a regular competitor in the league. Local results published by The News during the 2026 season listed her among Flight B winners, including closest to the line on No. 18.
