Alpena girls swim takes third at Stephanie Rice Memorial

OGEMAW - The Alpena High School girls swimming team placed third Saturday at the Stephanie Rice Memorial Swim Meet, scoring 214 points in an eight-team field.
Gaylord won the meet. Ogemaw Heights was second. Alpena finished ahead of Kearsley, Caro, Alma, Essexville Garber and Oscoda.
Several Wildcats posted personal records.
In the 200-yard medley relay, Olivia Sherwood, Penelope Conboy, Tryst Bukowiecki and Emma Darga finished fourth. Lucy Duthler, Gabriella Tolan, Eva Trainer and Emma Winfield also recorded a personal record in the event.
Jacquelyn Frantz took third in the 200-yard freestyle. Arabella Nunez was sixth. Conboy placed third in the 200-yard individual medley.
Bukowiecki finished second in the 50-yard freestyle. Olivia Nowakowski, Aubree Bauer and Ellie Quick posted personal records in the event.
Bukowiecki added a second-place finish in the 100-yard butterfly. Duthler recorded a personal record.
Emma Darga and Winfield each posted personal records in the 100-yard freestyle.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Conboy, Frantz, Nunez and Bukowiecki finished fourth. Quick, Tolan, Trainer and Winfield placed fifth and also recorded a personal record.
Bauer posted a personal record in the 100-yard backstroke. Nowakowski, Quick, Bauer and Duthler combined for a personal record in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Alpena travels to Alma on Tuesday for a 5 p.m. dual meet against the Panthers.
