Positive Athlete opens nominations for 2024-25 school year
ALPENA — Positive Athlete, a national organization celebrating high-character student-athletes, announced in a recent press release the opening of nominations for the Positive Athlete program in Michigan as part of its new Great Lakes Region.
Positive Athlete will award over $100,000 in scholarships this year around the country, including dedicated awards and scholarships specific to Michigan.
This marks an exciting expansion as Positive Athlete continues to grow beyond its Georgia roots.
All ninth through 12th-grade student-athletes in Michigan are eligible to be nominated by parents, coaches, teachers, administrators, and fans. Nominations are now open and will be accepted through May 9, via the Positive Athlete website positiveathlete.org. Nominees are immediately eligible for local scholarships available through the program.
Since its inception, Positive Athlete has recognized over 50,000 high school student-athletes and coaches who exemplify resilience, leadership, and a commitment to their communities. The program has also awarded over $550,000 in college scholarships to student-athletes who make a difference both on and off the field.
“We are thrilled to bring Positive Athlete to Michigan and recognize young athletes who inspire others through their attitude and actions,” said Positive Athlete CEO Scott Pederson. “Athletic ability is often celebrated, but we believe character, perseverance, and community impact deserve equal recognition.”
Student-athletes across Michigan who demonstrate positivity in the face of adversity, give back to their schools and communities, or uplift their teammates are encouraged to be nominated. Winners will be recognized later this year through Positive Athlete’s statewide awards program.
