ALPENA–Alpena High School’s wrestling team finished in third place Saturday at the home Alpena Invitational Team Wrestling Tournament.

Alpena earned dual meet victories over Alcona (18-12), Oscoda (48-18), Mancelona (19-18), and Rogers City (48-16).

The Wildcats lost a close dual for second place to Manistique with a final score of 30-33 and the champions Arthur Hill 12-69.

Carter Stark earned an individual gold medal with 5 wins and no losses at the 157lb weight class. Cayden Smith (120), Conner Sauve (132), Owen Zitlau (144), Derek Watson (150), Joe Schuh (165), and Gunner Spencer (285) each had three wins on the day.

Ava Jacques (135) and Gillian Merrill (235) wrestled at the Standish-Sterling Girls Wrestling Invite on Sunday. Merrill finished in second place on the day while Jacques finished in third place.
