PREP ROUNDUP: Posen, Hillman softball teams win

SOFTBALL

Posen takes 2 from Mio

POSEN–The Vikings improved to 3-1 on Monday with a pair of wins over Mio, 9-3 and 8-3.

In the opener, Posen pounded out 11 hits and built a 6-0 lead after two innings. Hailey Styma, Shelby Donajkowski and Ava Wesner each had two hits for Posen. Faith Cousins had three RBI, Wesner had two RBI and Donajkowski, Abi Schellie and Makayla Kamyszek each had one.

Lizzy Romel earned the win, allowing one earned run on five hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

Posen had just three hits in the nightcap, but took advantage of 11 walks. Romel, Wesner and Cousins each had a hit and Wesner had two RBI while Cousins scored four runs.

Kamyszek earned the win, allowing three runs (none earned) on five hits with 12 strikeouts and a walk.

Hillman tops Alcona

LINCOLN — Hillman improved to 3-4 on Monday with a pair of wins over Alcona, 19-9 and 17-2.

In the first game, Melanie Morrison earned the win for Hillman, striking out 10 and allowing two hits.

At the plate, Cassidy Benac and Jessica were each 2-for-4 with a double; Julia Taratuta was 3-for-4 with a double and a triple and Kaitlyn Klein was 2-for-2.

In the second game, Taratuta earned the win after allowing five hits and striking out nine.

Regina Morrison was 4-for-4 with a double; Saige Flaugher was 4-for-4 with a triple; Autumn Kazyaka was 3-for-3 and Taratuta was 3-for-3 with a triple.

BASEBALL

Mio sweeps Posen

POSEN — The host Vikings fell behind early in 14-2 and 14-4 losses on Monday and couldn’t catch up.

In the opener, Anton Strzelecki, Lucas Stone and Jack Romel each had a hit for Posen and Ethan Romel had an RBI.

In the second game, Stone had two triples and two RBI, Romel and Joey Konieczny each had a hit and Konieczny had an RBI.
