PREP ROUNDUP: Atlanta girls top Vanderbilt; Onaway boys win sixth straight

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Atlanta 49, Vanderbilt 22

VANDERBILT — Shaelynne Lance scored 21 points, Tanasja Tidwell added eight and the Huskies (2-8) used a fast start to earn their second win of the year on Monday. Atlanta led 20-6 after one quarter, 33-12 at halftime and 42-16 after three quarters. Atlanta hosts Posen on Wednesday.

Oscoda 59, Hillman 31

OSCODA — Macy Kellstrom scored 22 points and the Owls (15-1) sank nine three-pointers on the way to a victory on Monday. Izzy Hulverson added 14 points for the Owls. Julia Taratuta led Hillman (9-5) with 17 points and Saige Flaugher had six. Hillman plays Gaylord St. Mary on Wednesday and Oscoda hosts Whittemore-Prescott on Tuesday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Onaway 79, Alanson 60

ALANSON — Kevin Pearson had 28 points, Spencer Nash had 25, including seven three-pointers, the Cardinals (11-3) closed out the regular season on Monday with their sixth straight win. Onaway led 28-24 at halftime and increased the lead to 61-35 after three quarters.

Oscoda 73, Hillman 42

HILLMAN — Owen Franklin had 18 points, Drew Hess had 14 and Michael Gepfrey and Gavin Lueck had 13 each for the Owls (16-0).

Alcona 63, Fairview 19

FAIRVIEW — DJ Howe scored 25 points, Zach Stephenson had 12 and Jacob Sytek had 11 for the Tigers (7-6), who led 21-5 after one quarter and cruised from there.

Alcona hosts Gaylord St. Mary on Wednesday.

WRESTLING

Wildcats finish regular season

WHITTEMORE — The Alpena wrestling team wrapped up their regular season with wins over Coleman High School (Alpena 26 Coleman 11) and Rogers City (Alpena 33 Rogers City 30) while falling to Whittemore-Prescott (Alpena 11 Whittemore-Prescott 67) on Saturday.

Declan Genova (145) and Cameron Kubbe (285) went undefeated on the day with three wins each. Austin Bush (125) and Mason Bray (160) had two wins and one loss, Caleb Bullis (130) went 1-1, and Jeremiah Bullis and Jaydon Spencer went 1-2.

Alpena will compete in team districts Wednesday in Petoskey and individual districts at Bay City John Glenn on Saturday.

BOWLING

Alcona wraps up regular

season

The Alcona bowling teams wrapped up their regular season last weekend. In the Huron Shores All Conference, Victoria Skuse was named to the first team with 147.21. Brielle Keyser (136.64) and Samantha Nordstrom (131.36) were both named to the second team.

On the boys side, in the Huron Shores All Conference, Brenden Hudgins (188.75) was named to the first team and Jakob Tanner (169.50) was named to the second team.

Both Alcona teams will compete in regionals this weekend.
