PREP ROUNDUP: Alpena falls to Titans; Hillman loses in OT

BOYS BASKETBALL

TC West 61, Alpena 30

TRAVERSE CITY--The Wildcats never found their footing on Tuesday in a Big North Conference loss. Alpena (3-7, 1-6 BNC) trailed 33-14 at halftime and 51-26 after three quarters. Austin Prue paced Alpena with 15 points and Mason Mumford had eight. Alpena hosts Gaylord on Thursday.

Alpena's JV team lost 45-25. Brady Niedzwiecki led Alpena with nine points and Devin LaMay had eight. Alpena's freshman team lost 65-40. Avery Samp led the Wildcats with 12 points and Avery Spicer and Gabe Glawe each had eight.

Gaylord St. Mary 59, Onaway 56

The Cardinals had a good luck at a game-tying three-pointer as time expired, but couldn't get it to go in a loss Tuesday. Jager Mix had 18 points for Onaway (5-3), Spencer Nash added 15 and Kevin Pearson had 11. Onaway trailed 47-35 after three quarters, but chipped away at the Snowbirds' lead, getting it to one in the final 30 seconds.

Onaway hosts Central Lake on Thursday.

Posen 82, Atlanta 36

POSEN--Lucas Stone scored 23 points and was one of four Vikings to finish in double figures. AJ Brunet added 18 points for Posen (7-1, 7-0 North Star League), Cole Krajniak had 13 and Chase Dubie had 10. Posen built a 39-21 halftime lead and used a strong defensive game to create offensive chances. Aaron Cuzzort led Atlanta with 17 points.

Posen hosts Au Gres on Friday.

Rogers City 63, Pellston 54

ROGERS CITY--Nick Freel scored 29 points and Matt Newhouse added 16 for the Hurons (4-4). Rogers City led 28-18 at halftime and used that lead to hold off Pellston in the second half, increasing its lead to 51-27 after three quarters.

Oscoda 71, Pinconning 25

PINCONNING--Drew Hess scored 21 points and Owen Franklin and Michael Gepfrey each added 13 for the Owls (10-0).

Oscoda hosts Alcona on Thursday.

Hale 56, Hillman 47, OT

HALE--Trenton Taratuta scored 13 points for the Tigers (6-3, 4-3 NSL) in Tuesday's loss.

Hillman hosts Fairview on Thursday.

Alcona 73, W-P 46

LINCOLN--Gavin Walker had 18 points and DJ Howe added 17 for the Tigers (5-3, 3-2 NSL), who overcame a sluggish start on Tuesday and improved with each quarter. Alcona led 32-26 at halftime, but buckled down on defense and outscored Whittemore 24-2 in the third quarter.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Posen 62, Atlanta 7

POSEN--Ella Szatkowski scored a career-high 27 points and Makayla Kamyszek added 12 for the Vikings (7-1, 7-0 NSL). Posen hosts Au Gres on Friday and can clinch a fourth straight division title with a victory.

Fairview 42, Au Gres 18

FAIRVIEW--Kaitlyn Bowers had a double-double for the Eagles (5-3), scoring 20 points and added 11 rebounds in the win Tuesday.

Fairview plays Hillman on Friday.
