PREP ROUNDUP: Wildcats swept by Cadillac

CADILLAC–The Alpena High volleyball team came out on the losing end in a Big North Conference contest with Cadillac on Wednesday, falling to the Vikings in three sets.

Alpena lost 15-25, 13-25, 15-25.

Jade Gray had 12 assists, six kills and seven digs for the Wildcats and Allie DeRocher had seven kills and six digs.

Kami Schultz had nine digs for Alpena; Kate Skiba had seven kills and seven digs; Allie Urlaub had 13 digs and Emilee Spomer had eight digs.

Wolverine 3, Atlanta 1

ATLANTA–The Atlanta volleyball team came up short in its home opener on Tuesday, losing to Wolverine in four sets.

Atlanta lost 16-25, 18-25, 25-22, 18-25.

Tanaysja Tidwell had four aces, six kills and six assists for the Huskies and ShaeLynne Lance had five aces, two kills and played a great defensive game, according to Atlanta coach Dawn McSwain.

Andrea Jadrych added five aces, five kills and 10 assists for Atlanta.

The Huskies were scheduled play on the road against Charlton Heston on Wednesday.

Two runners medal for Alcona

STANDISH–The Alcona cross country team overcame tough weather conditions during the Panther Classic Invite in Standish on Wednesday.

Sara Decker and Cole Upper both medaled for the Tigers, who will compete in their first North Star League meet next Tuesday in Hale.
