PREP ROUNDUP: Atlanta netters win twice in tri

ST. HELEN–The Atlanta volleyball team got into the win column for the first time this season, earning victories over Charlton Heston Academy and Au Gres on Wednesday in a tri.

Atlanta beat Charlton Heston 25-14, 25-9 and defeated Au Gres 11-25, 27-25 and 15-13.

Tanaysja Tidwell had 13 kills and a block for Atlanta and ShaeLynne Lance had a strong defensive night with 14 digs.

Andrea Jadrych added 14 aces, 11 kills and two digs for the Huskies and Brianna Jadrych had seven kills, two digs and a block.

Atlanta coach Dawn McSwain praised her team’s teamwork, which helped Atlanta earn its first wins after several close matches early in the season.

“Once they (understand) it takes more than one person to make a team, they do wonderful,” McSwain said.

Atlanta was scheduled to host Whittemore-Prescott on Thursday.

Oscoda 5, Alcona 0

The Alcona soccer team was blanked on Wednesday, losing to Oscoda 5-0.

Keeper Tim Jamieson recorded 21 saves for Alcona.

Alcona will host Whittemore-Prescott at 5 p.m. on Monday.
