Alcona defeats Fairview at home

LINCOLN–The Alcona soccer team came out on top in a high-scoring game on Monday, defeating Fairview 4-3.

Alcona got out to a strong start, getting first half goals from Corey Boboltz, Tim Jamieson and Joel Steiner.

The Eagles scored 30 seconds into the second half and Ashton Rigby later scored to put Alcona up 4-1. Fairview attempted to rally back, scoring twice in the remaining time, but Alcona hung on for the win.

Caleb Komischke made three saves for Alcona.

On Thursday, the Tigers played Sault Ste. Marie and lost 4-1. Kamischke made 21 saves and Steiner had Alcona’s only goal.

Alcona played three games during a tournament in Oscoda on Saturday, going 0-3 on the day.

Alcona started the day against the host Owls and lost 4-1. Boboltz had Alcona’s lone goal and Kamischke had eight saves.

The Tigers then took on Saginaw Nouvel and lost 5-1. Boboltz scored with an assist from Jamieson and Kamischke made seven saves.

Alcona ended the day with a 5-0 loss to Ortonville, despite 16 saves from Kamischke.
