SAULT STE. MARIE–The Alpena High volleyball team kicked off the season on Saturday at the Sault St. Marie Invitational.

Alpena beat the host Blue Devils in the semifinals–25-19, 25-23– but lost to Petoskey in the Championship, 23-25, 19-25.

Allie DeRocher had eight kills and 13 aces for the Wildcats; Jade Gray had 14 kills and 25 assists and Kate Skiba had 10 kills and 12 aces.

Alpena hosts its annual quad on Thursday, starting at 4 p.m.
