BOYS BASKETBALL

Hillman 54, Atlanta 40

HILLMAN–Nash Steinke scored 14 points, Isaac Morrison added 11 points and the Hillman boys basketball team pulled away from Atlanta in the second half to beat the Huskies 54-40 on Wednesday at home.

Hillman (5-9, 5-4 North Star League) led 14-11 after one quarter, 24-22 at halftime and 39-28 after three quarters.

“I thought we had a pretty good third quarter. We made some adjustments with our trap and we were more intense,” Hillman coach Eric Muszynski said. “One thing we didn’t have for a whole game against Au Gres was intensity, but (tonight) the guys did a nice job moving the ball and the third quarter was the difference.”

Dawson Ableidinger had eight points and eight rebounds and had a solid night defending Atlanta big man Zach Roux.

Roux and Aaron Cuzzort each had 13 points for the Huskies.

Hillman plays at Oscoda on Tuesday.
