Hillman no match for Cedarville in blowout defeat

CEDARVILLE ­– The Hillman girls basketball team proved to be no match for Cedarville as the Tigers made the lengthy trip above the bridge and were on the receiving end of a 56-27 defeat.

Bailey Schook did all she could, but it wasn’t nearly enough as School led Hillman, scoring 20 of the Tigers’ 27 points in the contest.

Alcona wins two matches in West Branch

WEST BRANCH–The Alcona girls bowling team traveled to Hi-Skore Lanes in West Branch on Saturday to compete against the Ogemaw Heights Falcons.

The Tigers swept both baker games, 247-203. Alcona stayed strong but split the team games with a total of 1,135 to Ogemaw’s 1,011 and ultimately won 22-8.

High game for Alcona went to Samantha Nordstrom with a 131.

In the second match, Alcona faced Bay City All Saints. The Tigers split the baker games, 240-248. For the team event, the Tigers split again but came out on top, bowling a 1,265 to Cougars 1,169 and beat All-Saints 16-14 in final scoring.

High game for Alcona was Nordstrom bowling a 179.

Alcona’s next game is Saturday when the Tigers will host at Village Lanes in Harrisville. Matches will be played at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Admission is $5 per person and there will be a bake sale fundraiser and 50/50 drawings with the proceeds benefiting the Alcona bowling teams.
