PREP ROUNDUP: Strong fourth quarter pushes Cards past Bulldogs

ONAWAY–After a lackluster season-opener, the Onaway girls basketball team bounced back in a big way with a 46-33 win over Indian River Inland Lakes on Wednesday.

Onaway (1-1) trailed 25-24 at halftime and 33-29 after three quarters, but closed out strong, outscoring the Bulldogs 17-0 in the fourth quarter.

“We needed to bounce back after the opener and this is a good answer for our girls,” Onaway coach John George said. “We played really well defensively. Our conditioning and speed got us to where we needed to be.”

Breya Domke led Onaway with 18 points and Jillian Chaskey added 12.

Onaway plays at Central Lake on Friday.
