2019 All-Alpena News 8-Player Football Team

At 5-foot-6 and 140 pounds, Tyler Hincka was never the biggest football player on the field this season.

But he certainly was the most captivating.

Hincka was Posen’s breakout star this season, running over, under and through opposing defenses with ease. Whether he was muscling his way through a pile of linemen for a gain up the middle or getting past defenders down the sideline with his speed, Hincka was a playmaker in every sense of the word.

After a record-setting season, Hincka has been chosen as the 2019 all-Alpena News Player of the Year on The News’ third annual 8-player football team.

Hincka finished the season with an area-best 2,009 rushing yards in the regular season and 25 touchdowns. His rushing total also broke Posen’s single-season record which was previously held by his cousin Nick. Whenever the Vikings needed a big play, more often than not it was Hincka answering the bell and it’s a big reason why he was named the Midwest Central Eight-Man Conference’s Offensive MVP of the eastern division.

Hincka is one of five Posen players who were selected to this year’s team. Eyan Hincka, Gage Kaszubowski, and George Kroll were all selected on the defensive side of the ball and offensive Gabe Jakubcin was also chosen.

After a record-setting season in which it made a run to the semifinals, Hillman had seven players selected to this year’s team. Gunner Mellingen, the 2018 Player of the Year was chosen on offense along with quarterback Gage Steinke, running back Caleb Sanders and offensive lineman Zach Kazyaka. On defense, defensive back Sean Henigan was selected along with defensive lineman Kody Kalanquin and linebacker Dawson Ableidinger.

Rounding out the team are Atlanta’s Dalton Forrester and Trace Juergens and Onaway’s Blake Decker and Daniel Price.
