HILLMAN — Tuesday was a quick evening for the Hillman volleyball team as the Tigers were overmatched by a taller Tawas team that attacked the net all night.

The Tigers had no answer and struggled to communicate at times.

All of this led to Hillman getting swept on its home court by the Braves as the Tigers lost by scores of 25-14, 25-6 and 25-17.

Tawas was able to jump out to big leads early and it was the trend all night.

The Braves jumped out to early leads and continued to build on them, especially throughout the first two sets in the match as Tawas made quick work of the Tigers in the first set and dominated the second set, scoring the first 10 points and scoring 10 straight points midway through the set to take a 21-3 and eventually took a commanding lead in the match.

Despite being down two sets and facing an uphill battle after failing to communicate and making costly errors throughout the night, the Tigers tried to claw their way through the third set and push Tawas to make plays.

The Braves jumped out to a 7-3 lead, but Hillman cut the lead to 8-7 after some strong serving from Ellie Crawford who record three consecutive aces to bring Hillman back, but unfortunately for the home team, it was as close as they would get the rest of the night.

The Tigers kept battling, but Tawas once again used its height to their advantage as Hillman had no answers for Alexandra Frank, Jessie Shaw, Olivia Wallace and Celia Dobbs as the four controlled the net all night using their height and length to make life difficult for the Tigers.

Frank was nearly unstoppable anytime her teammates were able to set her up near the net and sent balls over the net that Hillman was unable to control and return.

After taking a 13-10 lead midway through the set, Tawas scored five unanswered to take an 18-10 lead.

The Braves scored five of six points late to put Hillman in a 24-14 hole, and despite the Tigers scoring three straight to cut into the lead, but it wasn’t nearly enough as the talented Braves came away with an easy sweep.
