Hillman’s girls Little League team opened pool play with a win on Tuesday, defeating Gaylord 10-8.

Nicole Barbeau got the win for Hillman after pitching four strong innings and going 3-for-4 at the plate with three singles.

Gretchen Weiland also saw time on the mound for Hillman and was 2-for-3 with two singles.

Other top hitters for Hillman were: Hannah Crane, 3-for-3 with three singles; Cassidy Benac, 2-for-3 with two singles; Sidney Klein, 1-3 with a single; Hannah Armon, 1-3 with a triple and Elise Flaugher, 1-for-2 with a single.

Hillman’s Little League boys team was also victorious, defeating Traverse City West 8-6.

Hillman got five strong innings from JT Witzke on the mound and played good defense.

Cuyler Schultz scored twice for Hillman and Evan Crane was 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored; Brenden Rouleau was 1-for-3 with a two runs scored; Jordan Benac was 2-for-3 with an RBI; Clayton Snyder was 2-for-4; Xavier Nichols was 1-for-2 with a run scored and Wyatt Cooke had a walk and scored a run.
