Cardinals split with Farwell on the road

FARWELL–The Onaway softball team split a doubleheader with Farwell on Wednesday and each team won by a 6-4 score.

Onaway (25-6) won the opener 6-4. Calley Selke earned the win after striking out eight.

Kennedy Crawford, Breya Domke and Kayla Metty each had two hits for Onaway and Selke had a pair of RBI.

Onaway broke things open with a four-run third inning and added a run in both the fourth and sixth innings.

Farwell scored one in the third inning, two in the fourth and one in the fifth inning.

Farwell turned the tide on Onaway in the second game, rallying from a 4-0 deficit with six runs over the final three innings. Farwell took a 5-4 lead after five innings and added an insurance run in the sixth.

Kyli Brewbaker and Britney Buczkowski each had two hits for Onaway and Crawford took the loss for Onaway, striking out six.

Onaway will play in a Division 4 district at Gaylord St. Mary on Friday. The Cardinals will open district play against Wolverine at 1 p.m.
