OSCODA–The Rogers City volleyball team finished runner-up to Oscoda for the Big Dipper title during the North Star League championships on Saturday in Oscoda.

Rogers City (20-16-4) split with Mio (25-23, 18-25), lost to Oscoda (24-26, 19-25) and defeated Alcona (25-20, 29-27) and Whittemore-Prescott (25-15, 25-22).

“Credit to Oscoda. They had their girls ready to go and they wanted it more,” Rogers City coach Jackie Quaine said.

Taylor Fleming had 37 kills, five aces, 42 digs and two blocks for the Hurons and Catheryn Hart had 14 kills, six aces and 24 digs.

Maddy Hincka had 12 kills, 21 digs and two blocks and Kristin Brege had four aces, 57 assists and 21 digs. Christina Andrzejewski chipped in with 19 digs.
