Alpena track teams open season in Davison

DAVISON–The Alpena High boys and girls track teams opened the 2017 at the Shake off the Rust Invitational on Thursday in Davison, taking third and 14th place respectively.

The Alpena boys team finished with 222 points after 18 top-10 finishes.

Grand Blanc won the men’s meet with 313 1/2 points and Bay City Western was 234.

Top finishers for the Alpena boys included: Wade Roznowski in the 100 dash (6th, 11.96); Kody Bertrand in the 100 dash (10th, 12.72); Roznowski in the 200 dash (10th, 24.19); Levi Goebel in the 400 dash (7th, 54.13); Josh Smith in the 800 run (6th, 2:03.22); Aden Smith in the 1,600 run (3rd, 4:31.63); Mitchell Day in the 3,200 run (1st, 9:35.52); Truman Vaughn in the 110 hurdles (10th, 18.52); Hayden Goebel in the 300 hurdles (4th, 44.71); the 400 relay team of Roznowski, Levi Goebel, Alex Arch and Alec LeTourneau (2nd, 45.72); the 800 run of Roznowski, Arch, Levi Goebel and Hayden Goebel (6th, 1:37.05); the 1,600 relay team of Jadon Duncan, Levi Goebel, Bradley Thompson and Hunter-Kline Tolsdorph (10th, 3:46.33); the 3,200 relay team of Aden Smith, Aidan Day, Josh Smith and Day (4th, 8:24.99); Trevor Roznowski in the shot put (1st, 46-8); Randy Udell in the discus (4th, 125-7); LeTourneau in the pole vault (13-4); Gabe Bullis in the pole vault (7th, 10-0) and Duncan in the long jump (7th, 19-2 1/2).

The Alpena girls finished with 73 1/2 points and had six medalists. Western won the women’s meet with 191 points.

Alpena’s medalists included: Molly Dickenson in the 1,600 run (3rd, 6:02.24); Maddie Voltz in the high jump (4th, 5-0); Dakota Prevo (5th, 33-11) and Faith Weide (6th, 33-8) in the shot put; Taylor Foster in the 100 hurdles (6th, 17.74) and Emma Jore in the 200 dash.
