GIRLS BASKETBALL

Beaverton 52,

Alcona 35

NORTHWOOD–The Alcona girls got off to a good start on Saturday against Beaverton, but couldn’t sustain its effort into the second half and lost 52-35.

Taylor Livingston led Alcona with nine points, Brittany Decker had seven and Megan Grove had six.

The Tigers fared much better on the front end of their back-to-back schedule, beating Hale 46-36 on Friday in Hale.

“”We may have been looking past Hale a bit and to their credit they stayed with us for quite a while .  We made some adjustments and we able to put it away in the 4tg quarter by getting the ball inside,” Alcona coach Mark Feldhiser said. “I am proud of the way the girls buckled down on defense in the last quarter but we need to stop putting ourselves in that situation.”

Livingston paced Alcona with 18 points, Decker had 16, Kendra LaFave had seven and Grove had five.

Alcona is 7-7 overall and plays at Posen tonight.
