Milligan sets all-time assists mark at Albion

ALBION – Despite a 3-0 loss to St. Mary’s College, the highlight of the Albion College volleyball team’s night on Wednesday came when senior-and former Alpena Wildcat- Ami Milligan dished out 20 assists to become Albion’s all-time leader at Kresge Gymnasium.

Milligan came into the match 12 assists away from tying the previous record held by former Briton Eliza Lee from 2002-2005 and broke the record in the second set. She also finished the match with 20 digs.

With 14 matches left in the regular season, Milligan has dished out 2,412 assists in helping the Britons to an 8-7 overall record this season and has plenty of time to add to her already impressive record.

Milligan is second all-time in assists in a season for Albion, having dished out 963 last season.

Milligan set records for assists in a season (773) and aces in a season (93) at Alpena.

As a freshman, Milligan won the starting job as setter and led the Britons in assists with 447 and was named their Most Improved Player.

She was named Most Improved Player again as a sophomore and tied a school record with 41 assists in a four-match set as a sophomore.

Last season Milligan got the Britons got off to a good start and set a school record with 39 assists in a three-set victory.
