Alcona tops Whittemore-Prescott; Onaway, Hillman earn big victories

WHITTEMORE – The Alcona Tigers won their fourth game in a row with a hard fought 22-16 victory over rival Whittemore-Prescott.

Brock Franklin led the Tigers with 161 yards rushing on 24 attempts and scored one touchdown. The big play of the game came from the arm of quarterback Damion Stewart who connected with Dresden Parkinson for a 73-yard touchdown.

Alcona’s defense came up huge all night and was led by Franklin, Parkinson and Devon Mills who each had double digit tackles.

The Tigers improve to 4-1 on the year and will host Oscoda in Week 6.

Hillman 30,

Mio 8

HILLMAN – The Hillman football team continued to turn its season around as the Tigers topped Mio on Friday, winning by a score of 30-8.

The Tigers were led by their dynamic playmaker Billy Kolcan who had 148 total yards and four touchdowns on the night.

Caine Hunt added 90 yards on 20 carries and also led the defense with 12 tackles. Wyatt Barrie added 10 tackles and two sacks in the winning effort.

Hillman improves to 2-3 overall on the year and will host Atlanta in Week 6 for its homecoming game.

Onaway 58,

Charleton Heston 8

ST. HELEN – Onaway put together an offensive clinic on Friday in its 58-8 victory over Charleton Heston.

The Cardinals compiled over 400 yards on the ground led by Josiah Crawford who had 162 yards rushing and found the end zone three times.

Lucas Tollini ran for 142 yards on eight attempts and scored twice. Gavin Fenstermaker made the most of his five carries running for 125 yards and added two touchdowns. Randy Tibbits also chipped in with a touchdown and 35 yards on the night.

Defensively, Onaway was led by Jonathon Bay who had 12 tackles and an interception. Tibbits also picked off a pass to go with seven tackles. Josiah Crawford recovered a fumble and added nine tackles.

The Cardinals improve to 3-2 with the win and will host Posen in Week 6.

Pickford 56,

Posen 12

POSEN – The struggles continued for the Posen football team on Friday as the Vikings were on the receiving end of a 56-12 loss to Pickford.

“We got beat by a better team tonight. We have to figure out soon because we have a big game next week. It’s just a tough time right now,” Posen coach Greg Pietsch said.

The Vikings were led by Dylan Schuch who had 107 yards rushing, including a 79-yard touchdown run and he also threw a 60 yard touchdown to Andrew Hall.

Darren Dubie added 43 yards on 12 carries in the losing effort.

Posen falls to 2-3 overall on the season and will travel to Onaway for a Week 6 matchup with the Cardinals.
