Alpena varsity swim team members earn PRs at conference meet

On Friday and Saturday, the Alpena varsity swim team competed at the Boys ISC Swimming and Diving Championship.
“The team didn’t just compete over the weekend, they elevated,” Coach Jennifer Johnson said. “When you look at the sheer amount of personal bests, the team pushed to the absolute max. Third place in this conference, with effort, is a testament to how much the team has grown”.
Swimmers achieved personal records throughout the weekend.
Individual PRs
Joshua Short achieved a PR and placed first in the 200 Yard Freestyle and first in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a D3 time.
Drew McConnell placed fourth in the 100 Yard Freestyle and sixth in the 100 Breast Stroke. Both placements were PRs for McConnell.
Alex Winfield achieved two PRs by placing third in the 100 Yard Butterfly and seventh in the 50 Yard Freestyle.
Logan Mill placed 10th in the 100 Yard Butterfly and 12th in the 200 Yard IM. Both placements were PRs.
Ethan Budd placed 10th in the 200 Yard IM and 14th in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a PR.
Brenden Werth placed 12th in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a PR.
Remi Gagnon placed 14th in the 50 Yard Freestyle also with a PR.
Other individual PRs were made by Milo Dahleen, Otto Dahleen, Nicholas Dargis, Remi Gagnon, Quentin Hubert, Joel Kaiser, Brenden Werth, and Brayden Ulch.
Relays
Joshua Short, Ethan Budd, Drew McConnell, and Alex Winfield earned first place and achieved PRs in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay. The group also placed third in the 200 Yard Medley Relay, each receiving a PR.
Brayden Ulch, Quentin Hubert, Joel Kaiser and Milo Dahleen achieved 13th place and PRs respectively.
Brenden Werth, Remi Gagnon, Logan Mill, and Nicholas Dargis achieved PRs and fifth place in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay. Also in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, Otto Dahleen, Quentin Hubert, Joel Kaiser, and Milo Dahleen finished in 10th place and earned PRs.
