Wolverines pull away late and defeat Hillman girls
AUGRES — It was a tough night on the hardwood for the Hillman varsity girl’s basketball team as they fell to the AuGres-Sims Wolverines in a 53-33 contest in AuGres.
The loss drops the Tigers’ record to 5-14 for the season.
Despite flashes of defensive grit, the Tigers struggled to keep pace with a high-powered Wolverines offense that controlled the tempo for much of the game.
The Tigers had a balanced, yet quiet, offensive night. Abigail Oswald anchored the effort in the paint, leading the team with seven points and hauling down seven rebounds.
Supporting the frontcourt, Brook Linseman tallied six points and three rebounds, while Maci Klein matched her with six points of her own.
Madelyn Oswald chipped in five points to round out the primary scoring for Hillman.
The team enters a grueling stretch of the schedule with three home games on the horizon next week.
Hillman will need to find their rhythm quickly as they prepare to host Oscoda, Mio, and Whittemore-Prescott in the coming days.
