Wildcat girls fall in last regular season game

GAYLORD – The regular season ended for the Alpena Wildcats varsity girl’s basketball team after losing to Saginaw United, 58-27, on Thursday.

The Wildcats had their share of opportunities, but the shots did not fall, and the pesky defense from Saginaw proved to be too much to overcome.

Leading the way offensively for the Wildcats was freshman guard Emma Kinsel with 10 points.

Freshman Amelia Soltysiak got her name in the scorers column as well, contributing nine points.

Next for the Wildcats is the first round of district playoffs on Monday against Traverse City West, in Traverse City.

Game time is set for 6 p.m.
