Hillman boys advance to district finals

The Hillman High School boy’s basketball team improved its record to 20-2 on the season and advanced to its sixth straight district final by defeating Rogers City 59-45.
With the win Hillman secured their eleventh 20-win season in the last 17 years and will square off against Gaylord St. Mary’s in the district finals game at 7 p.m. tonight in Rogers City.
Leading the Tigers offensively was Eddie Prue with 19 points and also led the team with nine rebounds, and eight assists.
Senior Evan Crane had a nice offensive night by scoring 18 points. Steady guard Aedan Tucker contributed 15 points.
Hillman racked up 14 steals during the game, with Ty Muszynski earning five by himself.
The Rogers City Hurons were led by seniors Jacob Catalano with 17 points and Justin Romel who had 10 points. Bryan McKinstry added 11 points.
Hillman Tiger Coach Eric Muszynski explained what his team needs to do moving forward in tournament action to keep advancing.
“We really executed the game plan tonight. What I liked the most about today’s game is the fact that we are showing the ability to play in various ways,” Muszynski said. “When we need to speed things up, and when we need to be patient, we can adjust accordingly.”
