ALPENA – The Alpena Community College Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams will participate in the conference-wide Hunger Games food drive during their final home game of the season on
tonight as they take on Bay College at Park Arena.
Fans who bring a canned food item or other non-perishable good will receive free admission to the game. All donated items will support ACC’s food pantry and help address food insecurity in the local community.
“We are happy to be participating in this conference activity to give back,” said ACC Athletic Director
Allen Telgenhof. “We’ve got great athletic support for our basketball teams, so we’re hoping those fans will
also give their support to our community.”
The food drive is being coordinated with ACC’s Athletic Leadership Council, with student-athletes assisting in collecting donations at the gate.
In addition to the Hunger Games food drive, ACC will also host Sophomore Night to recognize its sophomore athletes as they play their final home game at Park Arena.
“It is our last home game of the year, so we hope our students, staff, and the greater Alpena community will come out to support our basketball teams and our food pantry,” Telgenhof added.
