The Hillman Tigers girl’s junior varsity basketball team remained undefeated after a thrilling 33-22 victory over the Gaylord Blue Devils freshman squad.

The game was a back-and-forth affair that reached a fever pitch in the closing minutes, as the score was knotted at 22-22,

The pressure fell on the shoulders of Riley Cook who needed to make a crucial free-throw to ice the contest for the Tigers. Cook delivered and Hillman’s defense held firm in the final moments to escape with the win.

The Tigers’ victory was fueled by a balanced team effort and standout individual performances, led by Abigail Oswald led the team in scoring and was a force on the glass, finishing with nine points, nine rebounds, and three steals. Madelyn Tucker provided a spark across the stat sheet too with five points, three rebounds, three steals, and a pair of assists.

With this gritty win, the Tigers improved to a perfect 4-0 for the season. The girls will look to defend their home court and extend their winning streak on Monday when they host the Johannesburg Cardinals.
