Hillman varsity girls lose, JV wins
The Hillman girls varsity basketball team moved to 1-2 on the season following a 50-21 loss at the hands of the Tawas Area Braves.
Despite the defensive pressure from the Braves, the Tigers saw a strong individual performance from Kendall Gruschke, who led the team in both scoring and rebounding with seven points and seven rebounds. Junior Madelyn Oswald provided a spark on both ends of the floor, contributing four points, six rebounds, and four assists. Brook Linseman added four points and two rebounds for the Tigers.
The Tigers will look to bounce back quickly as they hit the road tonight to face off against the Posen Vikings.
The Hillman junior varsity girls basketball team showcased a dominant defensive performance on Tuesday, securing a 37-21 victory over Tawas. The win keeps the Tigers undefeated as they move to 2-0 on the young season.
The Tigers’ defensive pressure was the story of the game, led by the trio of Abby Oswald, Torri Brown, and Madelyn Tucker, who combined for a staggering 17 steals. Oswald led the offensive charge for Hillman, finishing with a game-high 16 points while adding six rebounds and six steals to her stat line.
Brown was also a major factor on both ends of the floor, contributing 10 points and six steals. Meanwhile, Tucker acted as the team’s primary facilitator, filling the box score with four points, four rebounds, five steals, and a team-high four assists.
