Alpena boy’s swim team win in Oscoda

On Thursday, the boys Alpena Wildcat varsity swim team traveled to Oscoda and opened the season with an impressive 98-81 victory and there were strong performances by the Wildcats across the board.

Joshua Short swam a first in the 200-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle, Drew McConnell received a first in the 100-yard freestyle and 100- yard breaststroke and Alex Winfield earned first place in the 50-yard freestyle and second in the 100-yard butterfly.

Other top performers include Logan Mill who placed second in the 200-yard individual medley (IM) and third in the 100-yard butterfly, Ethan Budd added a third place finish in the 200-yard IM and second in the 100-yard backstroke. Remi Gagnon was third in the 50-yard freestyle and 100- yard backstroke.

The next meet will be away against Alma at 5 p.m. on Jan. 6th.
