Ogemaw Heights tops Alpena girls swim team

The Alpena High Girls Swim Team lost to the Ogemaw Heights Falcons 69-101 on Thursday. “As a coach, it’s important for swimmers to know that every race we swim is not just about the scoreboard, but it’s also about growth,” Coach Jennifer Johnson said. “The losses we face now are setting the foundation for the wins we’ll earn later, even if it means individual improvements. What matters most is that everyone keeps showing up, pushing themselves and supporting one another.”

Highlights from the meet include freshman Penelope Conboy earning a second in the 200 Yard IM and 100 Yard Breaststroke. Captain Elizabeth Rabbideau took fist in the 100 Yard Backstroke and third in the 50 Yard Freestyle. Tryst Bukowiecki earned first in the 100 Yard Butterfly and third in the 200 Yard IM. PR’s were made by several swimmers including captain Kaelyn Roznowski in the 200 Yard IM and also Arabella Nunez. In the 50 Yard Freestyle, Emma Darga, Jazmyne Westfall and Emma Winfield had PR’s.
