ALPENA — The Alpena Community College men’s soccer team came up short on Sunday, falling 4-0 to the St. Clair Community College Skippers in a physical matchup.
The Skippers struck early and often, with Gabriele Catterina opening the scoring. Miodrag Vasovic followed with a second goal, and Noham Colcy added two more to secure the win for St. Clair.
The game grew heated at times. St. Clair’s Exauce Nskala was ejected after receiving a red card for shoving an opponent, and ACC head coach Nick Fletcher was shown a yellow card. Despite the physical play, Alpena continued to battle and generated three shots on goal, but the Skippers’ defense held strong.
St. Clair finished with 10 shots overall, keeping the pressure on Alpena throughout the contest.
With the loss, the Lumberjacks fall to 0-4. They will look to rebound in their next match on Wednesday, when they travel to face Owens College at 3 p.m.
