GAYLORD – The 11U Thunder Bay Blockheads-Kennedy team delivered an impressive performance this weekend, going undefeated and claiming the championship title at the 45th Parallel Grand Slam Tournament held in Gaylord.
The Blockheads dominated the field, winning all four games throughout the tournament. A highlight of the weekend came during the semifinal matchup, when Evan Prevo smashed an out-of-the-park home run, driving in three runs and securing a pivotal victory for Alpena.
In the championship game, the Blockheads faced off against the talented 11U Gaylord Elite. Despite strong competition, Alpena held their ground, ultimately emerging victorious with a 14-8 win to sweep the tournament.
“This weekend the boys played their hearts out,” said Coach Eric Ross. “They dug deep and found a new gear that drove them to win every game they played in Gaylord. They tried their hardest and had fun which is what drove them to success. They just so happened to bring home some hard wear.”
“To go undefeated in a tournament like this really shows how far they’ve come and how much dedication they’ve put into the game,” Coach Jeff Parker added.
The tournament win marks a major highlight in the Blockheads’ season, showcasing not only their talent but their growing confidence and teamwork. The team now sets its sights on their final tournament of the year, heading to Owosso June 27 through 29.
With momentum and team spirit running high, the 11U Blockheads-Kennedy are ready to close out the season strong.
