Last spring, over 4,300 community members stood on sidewalks in the heat and rain to sign three petitions to recall Sarah Costain, Monica Dziesinski, and Eric Lawson. Unfortunately, a high-priced Detroit law firm hired by Dziesinski, representing all three board members, used a legal technicality to throw out your signatures and silence your voices.
As a grassroots coalition without corporate legal funding, the recall committee now depends entirely on the power of your vote. We encourage all voters – including those who faced intimidation or harassment – to exercise your rights and vote on Tuesday, November 3.

Kipfmiller and Ratz have children who attend APS. Both are businesswomen, smart, savvy and thoughtful. They're committed to the betterment of our public schools and since their children attend APS they have a vested interest in public schools.
Carlson is versed in the juvenile justice system. He understands the importance of what it means to collaborate with multiple systems for the betterment of children who are struggling. Carlson's parents are educators and after college Evan was a substitute teacher. He understands the inner workings of public schools.
Fritz is a committed and deeply involved current board member. She is a former educator and attends school functions on a regular basis. Fritz is very professional and makes board decisions that are in the best interest of "all" students.
Public school board positions are nonpartisan. These candidates are not endorsed by a political party.
