Support the police, not the criminal

By Robert Colarusso 2 min read

I could not believe what I read in the Friday, July 24 edition of The Alpena News.

When growing up in Massachusetts in the 1940s, criminals were treated as criminals and law enforcement was honored and respected. That is when we had a decent Republic.

Today, we are experiencing a rapidly spreading disease called "Democratic Liberalism" that will deeply destroy our country. President Obama said "we are a nation of cowards and hypocrites." This recent shooting in Madison Wisconsin proves it. This has happened many times across the country where law enforcement was doing their job and protecting the public. A suspect was reported attempting to enter parked vehicles and then tried to get away on a bike after officers contacted him. The suspect refused to stop and cooperate and when the officer tried to question him, he pulled out a knife during a struggle and injured the officer. Another officer tried to deploy a taser but was unsuccessful. The injured officer fired his weapon in defense.

The sickness of the story is they had a growing memorial for the criminal with candlelight vigils, flowers, etc. Even the police chief, instead of backing up his men, gave an apology and offered his heartfelt sympathies to the family instead of just saying "Sorry, but the officer was attacked and wounded and had to protect himself."

When the police put their life on the line and not get an ounce of consideration from the legislators, clergy, or the overall community, as well as from his chief, then they have sown the seeds of anarchy. This Marxist attitude against law enforcement by criticism, defunding, etc, will only lead to that there is no one to fill their shoes. When we need of a cop, call a politician.
