I was happy to see democracy at work in the 106th state House of Representatives District race between Trina Borenstein and Cam Cavitt. Both showed up at the League of Women Voters Candidate Forum and spoke on what was important to them and what they would do if elected.

Both were asked about affordable housing. Trina Borenstein has been a strong advocate for affordable housing in the 106th District. Cam Cavitt was not prepared to answer the question on that subject, or for that matter that it was a big concern for the constituents in the district. I was thrilled to see the article in The Alpena News which showed that Cam was listening and glad Trina Borenstein played a part in making Cam Cavitt aware of the housing problem.

Cam Cavitt stated in the article that he is now going to be an advocate for affordable housing in our district and how important it is for our growth. This is great, but we do need to hold Cam Cavitt accountable and make sure he does.

I am so glad that Cam Cavitt is now worried about housing for the living and not just for the dead.
