Snow, Fisher are only viable APS candidates

The Northeast Michigan League of Conservative Education is a political action committee supporting three candidates for school board. If all are elected, there would be three board members who want to control the public schools, two while sending their school-age children to private schools and an existing member that is homeschooling.

NMLCE advocates vouchers, charter schools, and homeschooling. They would control the board. Their motives are highly concerning considering the actions of those associated with this group over the past few years. Slanderous grooming claims and intimidation of library staff, attempts to ban books and defund the library. Additionally pressuring the county with a quid pro quo and attempting to insert their own library board members.

Over the past several years they have pursued unfounded claims at Alpena Public Schools concerning: teaching critical race theory, litter boxes in the schools, potential abortion and gender affirming in the heath clinic, teachers grooming students via curriculum books and calls to vote down funding millage for the schools to get their agenda.

They support a very anti-LGBTQ+ agenda.

Intimidation tactics have been used at past school board meetings. Moreover, several have indicated that they would support ignoring state and federal laws to achieve their narrow-minded agenda. This would invite litigation, which would endanger school funding and incur legal expenses the district cannot afford.

You have to question if there is a commitment to public education.

Gordon Snow and write-in Rennee Fisher are the only viable candidates.

DALE FRITZ,

Alpena
