Only one candidate believes in democracy

This is an important reason to pick one presidential candidate over the other.

One candidate believes in the principles of democracy, while the other does not.

Democracy. The ideas established 200 years ago, and written eloquently into our founding documents, the idea that we are a country of laws, ideals, and a commitment to each other.

Democracy works like this. Hillary Clinton, after her loss in the 2016 presidential election, swiftly concedes, hearing the voice of the people, and letting democracy move on. Other nations have always admired our peaceful transfer of power.

Do you remember during that same campaign, Donald Trump declared the election rigged and that there was fraud at all the polling places? After he won the election, the complaining disappeared.

2020. Trump loses the election and again claims it was rigged. Trump does not concede. He calls Georgia, and asks that “they find him votes”. He badgers his vice president, Mike Pence, to not certify the election. He filed 61 lawsuits, claiming he was cheated out of votes. He loses all but one.

Next, he encourages supporters to arm up and come to D.C. on Jan. 6. “It will be wild,” he says. Good people died that day, protecting our Capitol.

Trump admires dictators, and his love letters from Kim Jung Un and his relationship with Vladimir Putin suggests his desire to copy them. He declared he would be a dictator, but “only on day one.”

If he wins, he has indicated he will use the Justice Department and the IRS to legally destroy his perceived enemies. An enemy to Trump is anyone not loyal or in agreement with him.

This is not our way forward that one vengeful man can have absolute power. In the past, our laws would stop him.

Let’s make America for the people again!
