Fournier was wrong during 3rd Ave meeting

The Alpena County Road Commission meeting on Oct. 7, regarding the extension of 3rd Avenue to Tamarack Road, allowed many concerned citizens to respectfully present the pros and cons of this road project within the suggested five-minute timeframe. The Road Commission representatives listened intently to all the constructive alternate solutions to the crisis safety issues for access to Thunder Bay Junior High. At all times, the Road Commission panel showed respect for all the speakers. The panel politely responded during their open question-answer period.

Brenda Fournier, Alpena County commissioner for District 5, suddenly announced that this meeting was a “shit show” (in her words). She further stated that 3rd Avenue should be a dead end at the junior high school and residents living in the Barrington Circle area could “figure out their own way out of the area.” I can’t believe that a commissioner would make such an outrageous statement, showing disrespect that she has for the citizens of this township. Brenda Fournier was the only disrespectful person in the room. She should do the right thing and resign immediately from her position on the board since she does not represent the people as a caretaker of our township finances. With someone like her on the board, it makes it a very easy decision how I will be voting this time for the millage request that I have always supported in the past.

BOB SCHULTZ,
